The Heart wants want it wants- Selena Gomez

I have said this before and I’m saying this again, I truly like a song with good lyrics. Especially when the lyrics is close to the singer’s heart! It puts the music to a whole new level. Today’s pick is Selena Gomez’s “Heart wants what it wants”

This song was released after the Selena-JB breakup when media was conjecturing the reasons behind it, dissecting their emotions and trying to make news out of whatever bits and scraps they could gather from these two celebrities. Selena Gomez packages all the answers to their never ending questions with this song!

Gomez said about the song, “And it’s also a step for me knowing like, ‘Ok, this is what I’m about to say, and I need to say it when I’m ready’ […] And I think after this year, it’s the perfect way to end the year, it’s the perfect way to end a chapter in a way.”

The song speaks of her relationship with her lover which is on the verge of dying; there’s nothing left, to give or take in it, however, ending it is equally difficult. But, at the same time, she also realizes that concluding the relationship, is the only solution left and that she needs to move on after that! It speaks about the struggles between her heart and body over a biased opinion and how she needs to make peace with them all. The song also shows the maturity in her voice and perfectly hides the pain in her music, which again takes this song to new levels, not to mention, Selena’s career graph too! 😉

“There’s a million reasons why I should give you up

But the heart wants what it wants…”

In most matters of life, concluding something is very difficult, because it means saying Goodbye to that chapter/ phase of life. And goodbyes are always hard!

But it is equally important to do it. It not only allows you to move ahead in life , but also marks the fact that, now, it is a Memory; good or bad whatever it is; you are not gonna be able to move back there again. It is OVER!

This registration is what your mind and body also needs, to decide to move on.

If not concluded properly, the matters just wind up like a monster wanting to kill you up. Yes, you must have changed locations. Yes, you must have run away, but was that enough to forget it all? Did it help you to look forward and march to the new horizons? No!

‘Heart wants what it wants’ would definitely help you do that!

That part in the song where she says, this is not a fairy tale, no happy ending gives me Goosebumps. Perhaps you’ve heard of R. L Stein
